Hello Everyone in Blogland

After a hiatus of over a month of not blogging (blame Facebook) I decided to hit the blogosphere again.

Facebook is great for keeping up to date on what people are doing, but blogging has more depth.  We can discuss, rant, commiserate and comment to our heart's content.  Facebook is rather more superficial although during Queensland's recent severe weather events, it was great to have the Queensland Police updates on warnings and what was going on.  As there were a lot of rumours going around by the doomsday pessimists, it was reassuring to have these dispelled by the Police.  Well done, QPS!

Anyway, we've had relatively fine weather recently although apparently there was a storm last night.  I say apparently, because once I'm asleep I don't hear anything so it can thunder right over the house and I don't move.  Not sure whether that's a good thing or not...

Life has been pretty busy.  Jane and I still go to the markets every Sunday morning and we've bagged some pretty good bargains lately.  Jane's refurbished her wardrobe after discarding quite a lot of outdated clothes (I won't tell exactly how much, you'll be shocked...lol).

I've thrown very little out but have bought more.  I found a lovely cream fisherman's knit jersey for $5 and today, found another blue polo necked jersey for $3.  I also found a Bryce Courtenay book I hadn't read, hard cover still with its dust jacket and in mint condition for $4.  Ken and I are both Bryce Courtenay fans so he was delighted when I told him because he knows he will get to read it, too.

Earlier in the year we had read his latest book "Fortune Cookie" and both loved the story so much I actually emailed Bryce Courtenay and told him how much we both enjoyed it.  I was absolutely stoked to get a really lovely reply from him.  It's so nice when a popular author takes the time to reply.  After all, they must get hundreds of emails from people.

My youngest daughter, Suzie, has started selling Body Shop products on the home party plan.  I've been to two parties as well as having one of my own and spent lots of money, but their products are beautiful and there are so many I can use without having an allergic reaction.  Fabulous!  I bought a new mascara a couple of months ago, a brand I've always used in the past, and had the most awful reaction to it.  After only using it the once, I tossed it out.  My eyes hurt so much, the lids were red and swollen...it looked as if I'd been on a six week crying jag!

The one thing I love about the markets is that there is a lot of certified organic produce.  I can even buy organic coffee, grown in Queensland and it's so tasty.  You can always tell if food is organic...it's not perfect, it's smaller and if you don't eat it immediately, it spoils.  Remember when our mothers used to shop every day for our food?  One of my chores when I was young was to go to the shops for bread and milk.  Nowadays, you buy it once a week and because food has all these chemicals in it, it lasts an unnaturally long time.  Scares me silly.

Anyway, this is to basically let you know I'm still in the land of the living...only the good die young, as I keep telling my 91-year-old mother.  Guess we're both here for a long time...lol.

Hope all is well in your blog world, I shall now go visiting.
